A few weeks ago, at the start of what feels like longest summer ever, I caught up with Amey and Jack to shoot their engagement photos. They wanted to get together at their venue, The Kedleston, so we arranged to meet up in the evening when the light would be perfect. As The Kedleston are now mostly concentrating on events and didn’t have one on, we pretty much had the place to ourselves which was nice! Having somewhere secluded or quiet always makes for a nice relaxed atmosphere on an engagement shoot, which is perfect for getting natural photos and genuine smiles.
These two were absolutely adorable from start to finish – as ever with engagement shoots, there were maybe a few nerves but you’d never know it. The fact that they’re both super into fitness probably contributed to the bags of energy they brought to the shoot, I love when couples really go with it and move around/mix it up a bit. We headed up the lanes to one of my fave shooting spots (if you’ve had a read of my blog you’ll have noticed I’m pretty familiar with The Kedleston by now!), and had a bit of a wander.
The Kedleston – the perfect hidden gem for weddings
One of the things I love about The Kedleston is that it’s got plenty of variety and great little spots, but is still a really nice compact venue so it’s not a massive trek to get to any of it. The lanes are quiet enough to have a little romantic wander and not be bothered by cars, and there’s plenty of greenery around to really remind you you’re in the Derbyshire countryside (even though you’re actually just outside Derby – sshhhh!).
If you’re getting married at The Kedleston or just fancy having your own engagement shoot with me, don’t be shy – come and say hello and tell me all about yourselves 🙂 In the meantime, here are a few of my faves from this shoot.
